ALMOPIA – an area in the so-called Lower Macedonia, which covers the small valley along the upper course of the river. Ludia (den. Moglenica), between the regions of Eordoba and Pelagonia. The Macedonians conquer (Thucydides), descending from Upper Macedonia in Botiaia and Pieria. Bi-la is densely populated in antiquity. Ptolemy mentions three cities: Almopa, Horma and Absal.
